FROM PAGANINI TO THE FIREBIRD: A CONCERT OF FIERY BRILLIANCE AND FANTASY
In the summer of 2026, the ONJ will make a stop in Berlin (Germany) to present the second concert of its tour at the prestigious Konzerthaus, as part of the Young Euro Classic festival. This Berlin performance will follow the tour’s opening in Apeldoorn (The Netherlands), where the orchestra will have played within the framework of the Muziekzomer Gelderland.
A firework of fantasy and colorful sonorities: the concert opens with a new work by the young Luxembourgish composer Hy-Khang Dang – a Luxembourg premiere by this versatile musician whose works are already performed internationally, and who currently is, among other roles, a “Soundhub Associate” of the London Symphony Orchestra.
This is followed by Rachmaninov’s virtuosic Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, a work full of dramatic contrasts and refined timbres, in which Paganini’s famous theme is transformed into 24 brilliant variations. At the piano: internationally acclaimed soloist Joseph Moog.
After the intermission, Igor Stravinsky adds a playful touch with his Circus Polka, originally written for a ballet of elephants. The concert concludes in a blaze with the suite from The Firebird – a masterful blend of Russian fairy tales, orchestral virtuosity and dramatic intensity.
An evening that moves between contemporary music, romanticism and playfulness.
